Yes, I find it almost tasteless to neglect this tragedy and, by extension this group of people, from any tabulation of the evils of war. Of course, their fate matters.

Even the usual caveat, for the 1% of humans who happen to be amoral psychopaths drawn to killing, is not in the spirit of the main idea - the only people who "win" wars, are those win the fat DoD contracts.
